Sheep play a critical part in possessing the Land of Israel.

Since the times of the Patriarchs, sheep have played an important role, in the history of the Jewish people. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his 12 sons were all shepherds. Moses was a shepherd. David, before he was a king, he was a shepherd. Now today, sheep continue to be an integral part of the identity of the Jewish people and part of the restoration of the Land of Israel. Today, just as in ancient times the Jewish People are raising sheep as they possess and dwell in the Promised Land.

One of the best ways to take possession of the land in Judea and Samaria is to shepherd large swaths of acreage. Which is what some Jews have dedicated their lives to do. Despite constant terrorism, troubles and worries, these people live day in and day out enduring hardship and difficulties. Why? Because they believe in the promises God gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, their shepherding forefathers.

A few months ago, we were privileged to meet some of these pioneers of the Land of Israel, in a small village called Chavat Maon, which lies in the Southern Hebron hills. In this village, Aviyah Weinstock, his wife, and their eight children all live in a single room tent, without electricity or running water. They face the daily threat of terrorism, like the attack that maimed a shepherd, Itamar Cohen, just a few months ago. But they press on despite the difficulties, because of their faith in the covenant given to Abraham.

They know that the world stands against them. They also know, first hand, that Palestinians are daily encroaching on Jewish Land, backed by billions of international dollars. But they face the pressure, knowing that God will be faithful. And that is where we have an opportunity to help… Yes, you probably don’t have billions of dollars, nor do you have the ear of the International community, but you and I do serve a God who loves the widow’s mite and lends His ear to hear the prayer of the upright. So lend a hand in building the community of Chavat Maon, and by so doing, restore the Land of Israel to its former glory—God’s Glory, which will once again go forth from that place, as was said by the Prophet Isaiah, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the L-rd is risen upon you.”

Your generous donations will go towards:

  • Building a sheep pen (especially important now in the winter months)
  • A battery providing electricity for remote locations

Thanks for considering to support these shepherds in the Land of their forefathers!
